Discussion - 

Unfortunately, I've only seen Phantom of the Opera in it's Musical movie format. I've never been able to experience it in it's rightful setting in a theatre so my opinion lacks intellectuality. Going off of the lecture and what makes an opera an opera, Phantom of the Opera isn't an Opera but a Musical. The story takes place in an Opera house and has songs like classical Operas but the performers use microphones to be heard unlike in true Opera's where they are trained to project their voices. The story also focus's on one main character, Christine, unlike Opera's that focus on multiple characters. Is Phantom an opera, who is to say. Is it the greatest opera ever created? It's the greatest "opera" I've ever seen so far.
